Isfield train line re open?


London’s two main arterial rail connections to the South East are under extreme pressure.

The Brighton Main Line (BML) and the Tonbridge Main Line (TML), shown below, cannot
support any more trains. Even though the 2015 Thameslink Programme will bring longer
(12-car) trains to the busiest services, the Department for Transport (DfT) warns:

“This will be a useful medium-term contribution to BML capacity but will not, on its own,
provide a long-term solution.”
